'Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles and refuse to let the world corrupt us' James 1:27

The Raising Hope Foundation is a UK charity working in the Ewe Volta region of Ghana.

Charity Number 1129045

We work alongside local NGOs to transform the lives of orphaned and needy children, through providing them with a home, access to education, healthcare, food and love.

We are currently working on an Oprhanage home project in the village of Santrokofi, as well as supporting the children in the village with scholarships for further education. For more information see about, and the santrokofi project above.

Many thanks to Simon, Bethan and Judy who have just organised our second annual Quiz Night, raising £400 and to Helen Peacock who held our first ever fundraising event in Stoke on Trent, a fundraising party raising over £175.

Best wishes to Danni and Fran Willshaw as they run the Great Manchester 10km on the 20th May for the RHF!

December 2011

We were able to hand deliver 30 shoe boxes filled with Christmas presents for the children living with Agnes. They were delighted to receive them and saved them until Christmas Day. Thank you to all who got involved for giving the children an unforgettable Christmas! Kinza was also able to visit the  Orphanage site, where the roof was just hours from completion!

November 2011

We have just held out first ever Annual Dinner, held to celebrate everything we have achieved since we began in 2009, focusing particularly on the achievements of volunteers and fundraisers this year. It was an honour for us to be able to name Chris Thomas, Tom Smith and Ashley Middlewick as our Fundraisers of the Year 2011 after an epic cycle from London to Istanbul in which they rode approx 2400 miles. The boys raised over £2800!
It was also an opportunity for us to thank our summer volunteers and to officially welcome them to the Raising Hope Foundation as Ambassadors for the charity. We really couldn't do what we do without them! Zoe Cosens was named Ambassador of the Year, for all of her hard work in fundraising, promoting the charity, and helping out in Ghana. Danielle Willshaw was named our Lond Standing Ambassador, for her commitment to the charity and the children over the last 3 years.

We were also able to announce that as of 19th October work had begun on the roof, which has been fully paid for. Photo updates coming soon!

Please take a few minutes to watch this video, presented at the Annual Dinner, which shows all that we've been up to in the last 3 years:

The Istanballers - Fundraisers of the year 2011

Chris and Tom reached Istanbul after 55 days, 13 countries, 10 capital cities and only a few punctures! Ash also cycled with them, providing a lot of moral support, from London to Prague. These guys have had an amazing journey, meeting some incredible people on the way, and raising a lot of money for our Santrokofi Project, in total over £2800! Do take a look at their blog :  http://www.theistanballers.blogspot.com/
where you can see some great video blogs about all their adventures on the way. We at RHF want to thank them again for taking on this epic adventure, and choosing us to support. Hopefully the boys can come out next summer and see first hand what they have helped us to achieve in Ghana!

Summer Camp:

This August a team of 14 volunteers travelled to Ghana to run a summer school for the children in Santrokofi. We were able to build on the success of last years trip and this year had over 150 children attending every afternoon for two weeks. The children were taught maths, english, science, art and games. We also took out clothes, toys and school materials which were distributed at the end of the camp.
