VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Helping Others

Every summer we lead a team of volunteers in Ghana to run a two week summer school for the village children, strengthening their core subject skills and giving them access to art and sport activities. We have also recently expanded our volunteering programme to include year-round volunteers, so that we are able to continue the projects in Santrokofi by sending out teams of volunteers to have a bespoke experience, tailored to their skills and interests, working with our Ghanaian Ambassadors all year long.
If you are interested in an opportunity to work abroad with some fantastic children and other volunteers, please use the link below to get in touch!

In 2013, a group of volunteers cycled over 5000 miles from the Arctic to Africa to meet us in Ghana in time for summer school.

I got involved with the RHF through friends at university. The children are some of the most amazing people I have ever met – they have so little yet always give so much; they are always happy and truly appreciate everything we do with them. Seeing the work the RHF does in both Sogakope and Santrokofi has made me realised how important our fundraising is and what a huge impact our work is having, and will continue to have, on the lives of the children. I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved with the charity, whilst taking part in fundraising activities in the UK and during trips to Ghana and I am very excited about the future of the Raising Hope Foundation.

Going to Ghana was a bit of a shock to the system, in a good way, it’s like nowhere I’ve ever been. The boys there especially appreciate having male volunteers, people to play football with, take them for rides on the bikes, teach them to swim etc. It was great to be able to spend a day helping to build the orphanage. As a country it’s a phenomenal place, the people are very friendly (although be prepared to haggle), we travelled from a heaving city to a beach, to a national park, to lake Volta, to mountains and a waterfall. Not bad for two weeks... I’d highly recommend it, and I’m sure I’ll go back. The beer's not bad either!

It is so hard to describe just how amazing volunteering with the Raising Hope Foundation is. For those who have never been to a country that is so poverty-stricken, it can be a shock at first and it can be hard to not get upset seeing how difficult these people's lives are, but you soon realise how truly happy they are. They are grateful for everything and celebrate each day, thanking God for everything that they DO have. I have never met people who are as friendly and cheerful as those in Ghana - I often wish we were more like them. Ghana changed my life and I now hope I can change lives, along with 'Sister Kinza' and her inspirational work. If you are thinking about volunteering with us next year, stop thinking about it.. and DO IT!
